Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of visual sources created during the May events of 1968 in France. This period was a turning point in many areas, from politics to a new understanding of the human being. 1968 was reflected in many cultural artifacts, such as fiction, cinema, music and fine arts. What was so special about May’s events that it affected almost everyone and opened up a new branch of the historical process with completely new foundations? Were those events unique, or were all the May events just a tribute to the French tradition? The answer to these questions would be found in each of the aspects touched upon by the public during 1968. However, this research field is studied well enough already in political, economic and macro-aspects in foreign historiography. Almost nobody touched the sphere of visual sources, though from all materials of that time they are the most vivid reflection of the main operating force of May events, namely students. Therefore, the purpose of the article is to find answers to these questions through the analysis of posters, magazines, slogans and other types of sources, which have been created directly by the participants of the events.
