Research Seminar “The Outskirts of the Empire in the Russian Historical Consciousness and Social Memory” (Rostov-on-Don, May 10, 2019)

Abstract. The article is an overview of the research seminar “The Outskirts of the Empire in the Russian Historical Consciousness and Social Memory”. The seminar was carried on May 10, 2019, in Rostov-on-Don based on the Historical Park “Russia is My History”. This seminar is the second in the list of three planned events within the framework of the research project “National outskirts in the Policy of the Russian Empire and Russian Social Thought”. The project has already been implemented for two years with the financial support of the Russian Science Foundation by researchers from the Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Southern Federal University. The seminar was in focus of scientists from the Baltic Federal University, St. Petersburg State University attended and the historical park “Russia is My History” in Rostov-on-Don. In the framework of the seminar a wide range of problems has been raised related to the national policy of the Russian Empire, its reflection in the Russian social philosophy of the 19th–early 20th centuries, as well as in historical consciousness and social memory. The event was organized in three sessions, discussions and final discussion.
