Abstract. This article introduces into scientific circulation the materials of the interview of the Honored Doctor of the Kalmyk ASSR Nikolai Nikolaevich Grinkov, where he talks about the years of work as a doctor in the city of Stepnoy. After completing his studies at the Astrakhan Medical Institute in 1949, N.N. Grinkov, by distribution, was sent to the city of Stepnoy, Stepnovsky District, which was first formed after the abolition of the Kalmyk ASSR as part of the Astrakhan Region, and since 1952, as part of the Stavropol the edges. The interview characterizes the healthcare system that functioned on the territory of the former autonomous republic in the 1940s–1950s. N.N. Grinkov, having worked all his life in Kalmykia, made an invaluable contribution to the development of the radiological service of the region, having trained a large galaxy of highly qualified specialists – radiologists.
