Abstract. This essay is dedicated to the biography of Viktor Alekseevich Suschenko, who worked at the RSU (SFU) for 37 years. In 1974, he tied his life with Rostov State University. A few years later, after the successful completion of the RSU, V.A. Sushchenko began his career as an employee of the Department of History of the CPSU of the RSU. Over the years, Viktor Alekseevich was fond of various topics and problems of Russian history. He began his scientific work as an expert on the history of party leadership in the development of the agricultural sector in southern Russia. Subsequently, his scientific interests underwent a significant transformation, and V.A. Sushchenko turned his eyes to the history of entrepreneurship in the Don region. On the first issue V.A. Sushchenko defended a PhD thesis, and on the latter one — a doctoral. A few years later, he decided to research the history and role of the Greek community of Don in the development of entrepreneurship in the region. Among colleagues V.A. Sushchenko was remembered as a kind and sincere, a man of principle, passionate about historical knowledge. A more important part in the life of V.A. Sushchenko was his family, wife and daughters. He was also famous as a connoisseur of poetry and could freely quote poems of various authors and eras. V.A. Sushchenko was a well-read person with a wide outlook.
