International Scientific Conference “Nakhichevan-on-Don: History and Modernity (to the 240th Anniversary of the Armenian Migration to the Don)” (Rostovon- Don, October 18–19, 2019)

Abstract. The presented review focuses on the international scientific conference dedicated to the 240th anniversary of the resettlement of Armenians from Crimea to the Don. The conference was organized by the government of the Rostov Region, the Rostov Regional Organization “Nakhichevan-on-Don Armenian Community”, the Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Southern Federal University. The conference was held on October 18–19, 2019 in Rostov-on-Don. The conference participants represented not only the largest cities of Russia (Moscow, Rostov-on-Don Saratov, Samara, Pyatigorsk, Armavir, Ufa), but also neighboring countries – Armenia, Belarus, Uzbekistan. At the opening of the conference, officials, representatives of public organizations, the scientific community, parliamentarians of the Republic of Armenia and representatives of the Don Cossacks made a welcoming speech. In total, 36 reports were presented at the conference, covering various aspects of the life and work of Don Armenians. The scientific component of the conference was successfully supplemented by a cultural program that included a visit to the village of Chaltyr of the Myasnikovsky District and the historical and ethnographic museum located there, as well as the Museum of Russian-Armenian Friendship, which hosted the entire second day of the conference. By the beginning of the conference a collection of materials was published.
