Abstract. The article presents a review of the All-Russian Scientific Conference “Power and Historians: problems of interaction in the context of the formation of historical memory” that was held in Novosibirsk on April 23–24, 2024. The conference was organized by the Institute of History, SB RAS and the editorial board of the electronic scientific journal “Historical Courier”. Among its participants were 26 researchers from various regions of the Russian Federation and its “near abroad”. The objective of the Conference was to discuss the historical experience and problems of interaction between the authorities and professional historians associated with the formation of historical memory. Participants discussed measures taken by the government to organize historical research at different stages of the imperial period in Russian history; considered various aspects of historical research management on the part of the Communist power and specific ways in which historians reacted to it. They also analyzed various areas of cooperation between the contemporary professional researchers and the officials and the public in Russia, Italy, France, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
