Paths of Heroes, or The VI All-Russian Scientific Conference with International Participation “The Great Patriotic War in the History and Memory of the Peoples of Southern Russia: Events, Participants, and Symbols”

Abstract. This article provides an overview of the V All-Russian Scientific Conference with International Participation “The Great Patriotic War in the History and Memory of the Peoples of Southern Russia: Events, Participants, and Symbols”, which took place from June 4 to 7, 2025, in Rostov-on-Don. The event was attended by up to 200 researchers from various regions of the Russian Federation, as well as the Republic of Abkhazia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Armenia, Israel, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, the Republic of Serbia, and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The conference participants discussed a wide range of topics, from analyzing military operations in southern Russia to studying various forms of resistance to the enemy in occupied territories and issues of collaboration, from researching the fates of individual war heroes to analyzing the mechanism for preserving historical memory and the contribution of the peoples of the Soviet Union to the overall victory.
