Abstract. The article contains an overview of the International scientific Conference materials “Soviet Archaeology before and after the Great Patriotic War (the second half of the 1930s–the end of the 1940s)”, held at the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow (April 6–8, 2021). Russian scientists and representatives of leading scientific and educational centers of Ukraine, Belarus, and Uzbekistan attended the conference. The topics of the reports were diverse: the activities of central and provincial archaeological institutions in the second half of the 1930s–early 1940s (museums, educational and scientific institutions); features of the organization of archaeological science before and after the Great Patriotic War in the center and in province; public organizations and their role in the development of archeology in the prewar and post-war periods; archeology and archives in wartime conditions; plans for the development of archaeological science during the post-war reconstruction of the country and their implementation (mid–late 1940s); the role of scientists and local historians in the development of archaeological knowledge. The tradition of holding conferences on the problems of studying Russian archeology will continue in 2023. The next conference will be devoted to the scientific events of the late 1940s–mid 1960s.
