A Historian and Historical Fiction: the Round Table “The History for All: Historical Fiction” (Moscow, 2 November, 2016)

Abstract. This article is a report on the round table “The history for all: Historical fiction”, which took place on November 2, 2016 at the Institute of World History, Russian Academy of Sciences, and was dedicated to the problems of mutual understanding of professional communities and interaction with historical subjects using public figures, writers and journalists. The event was the first in the history of Russian historical science, where professional historians discussed their position and the role in educating and shaping historical memory and consciousness of our fellow citizens in a large-scale offensive parascientific and unscientific ideas about the past. At the round table there were some proposals on how the scientific community to position and to present a scientific picture of the past to the general public. Sounding proposals and evaluation are shown below.
