In Memory of Gennadiy Magakov

Abstract. A large part of the life of Magakov G.Yu. was dedicated to the Faculty of History of the Rostov State University, now called the Institute of History and International Relations, SFedU. His course of life was connected with the study and teaching history, as he has identified in his childhood, when, being a schoolboy, participated in archaeological expeditions. The history of medieval Scotland was his real love, loyalty to which he carried through all the years of his life. Being one of the leading teachers of the Faculty of History, he passed his knowledge and inculcated in students a taste for study of the historical past. Owing to his research and teaching activities the name of Magakov is inscribed in the annals of the Faculty history. Also his heritage is the British Club of the Institute of History and International Relations, now uniting students and teachers who are interested in a scientific study of the Britain’s past, as well as the modern traditions and customs of this country.
