The Research of Antiquity at the John Casimir University in Lwów (Lviv) during the Interwar Period (1919–1939)

Abstract. The aim of this article is to discuss with the use of a wide range of sources the problem of historical research of antiquity held at the John Casimir University in Lviv (former Lwów) during the interwar period (1919–1939). The University of Lviv was one of the most distinguished Polish universities of that time. From the second half of the XIX century a dynamic progress in the antiquity studies was there and even increased after the creation of the independent Polish state. There were many famous Polish scholars – researchers of antiquity working in Lviv, being resulted in the rise of scientific milieu at the Lviv University, which was one of the best in modern Poland.
