Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the implementation of historical policy as a variety of symbolic policy in the socio-cultural space of the Russian frontier city, on the example of the city of Astrakhan. Astrakhan is an old contact cultural zone, where representatives of different ethnic groups, religions and cultures have interacted for a long time, eventually forming a unique urban “memory landscape”. In the article the strategies of historical policy of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan were studied on the basis of field research. As a result, it has been established that the nature and orientation of these strategies were largely predetermined by the content of the Astrakhan “memory landscape”, or rather those parts of it, which were related to the history of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Keywords: Historical policy, Astrakhan, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, “memory landscape”.
