Scholarly and Educational Activity of Professor F.N. Djaczan

Abstract. The article deals with the scholarly and educational activity of the professor of Greek literature of Warsaw Imperial University Philip Nikitich Djaczan (1831–1906). Based on wide range of sources, authors reconstructed his life and presented his scholarly and teaching achievements. The specificity of F.N. Djaczan’s scholarly biography lies in the fact that as a graduate of the University of Vienna he started his career in AustriaHungary, and later moved to the Kingdom of Poland. Besides that, throughout his life he combined teaching with priest’s duties, first as a Greek Catholic priest and archpriest, and then as an Orthodox archpriest.
