Abstract. The article focuses on the Winter School “Archaeology of text – 5” experience. Students were placed into a unique educational situation: doing project activities in  a short time, they learned the principles of time management and had the opportunity to create a ready-for-implementation project. Traditionally the School invites participants to research scientific problems related to different aspects of the basic concept for Humanities – text. An interdisciplinary component of the education allows students to consider text from the perspectives of sociology, philology, philosophy, psychology, history, cultural studies. The main feature of the School was consideration of text in terms of its implementation in the field of media. Students learned what is meant as “communicative competence”, how information converts into a message and how the encoding-decoding process occurs, what kind of deformations might occur to text and what characteristics of the modern information and communication environment are. Been divided into groups, students were able to offer some ready-to-implement projects.
