Russian Conference with International Participation “Translations and Translators in Russia in the End of the 16th– the Beginning of the 18th Centuries” (Moscow on September 12–13, 2019)

Abstract. The article is dedicated to the review of the Russian Scientific Conference with International Participation “Translators and Translators in Russia in the end of the 16th–the beginning of the 18th Centuries”, held in Moscow on September 12–13, 2019. It was organized by the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, gathering experts from leading scientific centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Paris, Rostovon-Don, Orel, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Uppsala. Thematic reports covered a number of areas: general problems of diplomatic and scientific translations, translated literature in the practice of the Russian state of the late Middle Ages and early Modern times, property status and social status of employees of the Ambassadorial Prikaz, their participation in Foreign policy, studying pedigrees, prosopography, reconstruction biographies of tolmaches and translators. An important component of the conference was numerous discussions on various aspects of professional translation in Russia and European countries in the 16th–18th centuries.
