VI International Golden Horde Forum “Pax Tatarica: The Genesis and Legacy of the Golden Horde’s Statehood”. In Commemoration of 750th Anniversary of the Golden Horde (Kazan, June 26–28, 2019)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the review of the VI international Golden Horde Forum “Pax Tatarica: The Genesis and legacy of the Golden Horde’s statehood”, which was held on June 26–28, 2019 in Kazan in commemoration of the 750th anniversary of the Golden Horde. Traditionally, the forum was held at Marjani Institute of History of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences. The forum was organized by the Usmanov Center for research on the Golden Horde and Tatar khanates, Mardzhani Institute of history. Scientists from leading scientific and educational centers of Russia and the world attended the forum. Several events were held within the framework of the forum. For example, an international scientific conference “Statehood of the Golden Horde and Tatar khanates: traditions, ideas, innovations, crises”, as well as round table discussions: “The Concept of “Tatars” in medieval sources: the historical fate of the name/term and its bearers”, “Russian Ulus: questions of subordination of ancient Russian lands in the Golden Horde”, “Via Tatarica”: the Golden Horde on the Silk road” and “The State monetary policy and questions of the organization of coinage and monetary circulation in the Genghisid States (XIII–XV centuries)”. The presentations were diverse in subject matter, covering various aspects of the history of the Golden Horde and the Tatar khanates.
