Abstract. The review deals with the book of Svetlana Polskaya, Stavropol scholar, Russia, whose academic interests refer to the European medieval history. The volume is devoted to images of power in representative strategies of the French monarchy in Middle Ages. The book summarized the research lasted few years and which was devoted to the issue of political culture in general and Royal ceremonies in particular. As Svetlana Polskaya demonstrates, a lot of elements of everyday life and political practice were introduced in rituals and mythology. These elements include relations between the Church and the State, king and vassals, as well as political and legal functions of the monarchy. In the analysis the translations of medieval sources were used. The reviewed book can take an important place among researches about political culture of the Medieval West.
