Abstract. Acting Director of the State Archives of the Rostov Region. This essay is dedicated to the memory of N.A. Trapsh, a professor and dean of the Faculty of History
at RSU, and the Director of the State Archives of the Rostov Region. In 1993, he joined the Rostov State University. Years later, he became the dean of the Faculty of History, and in 2016, he was appointed director of the State Archives of the Rostov Region (GARO), a position he held for about 10 years. N.A. Trapsh’s contributions to the study of Russian historiography, Caucasian studies, and the history of Abkhazia and its relations with Russia are particularly noteworthy. The authors delves into N.A. Trapsh’s life journey, sharing his memories of the professor and his impact on the lives of his colleagues and students at the university.
