National Conference “Peripheral City and Citizen in the Space- Time Retrospective: The Specificity of National Identity” (Rostov-on-Don, 20–21 October, 2016)

Abstract. The report contains information about the Russian research and practical conference “Peripheral City and Citizen in the space-time retrospective: the specificity of national identity”, held in October 20–21, 2016 at the Institute of History and International Relations of Southern Federal University with the financial support of Russian State Scientific Fund. The conference dealt with the problems of urban history. The organizing Committee received more than 150 applications. As the result of applications evaluation by the organizing Committee presentations were given by well-known and young researchers from Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Rostovon- don, Stavropol, Samara, Surgut, Tambov, Makhachkala. Students presented poster presentations followed by discussion. At the plenary session reports were presented by following experts: Professor Broomfield, William K. (New Orleans, USA), Professor Klusakova L. (Prague, Czech Republic), urbanist Zinovievа O.A. (Moscow, Russia), Professor Eremeeva A.N. (Krasnodar, Russia), Professor Mininkov N.A. (Rostov-on-Don, Russia). According to the results of the conference participants have adopted a detailed resolution addressed to the authorities of Russian regions and summarized suggestions for the concept of urban space development in the peripheral urban spaces. Conference proceedings were published before the conference start. Participants and guests of the conference have given suggestions about the annual implementation of the conference.
