The Scientific Heritage of V. Kiyashko in the Archaeology of the Paleometallic Epoch

Abstract. In 2021 Professor V. Kiyashko, a lecturer of the Russian State University and SFedU, Candidate of Historical Sciences, passed away. The epoch of paleometallic Eurasia archaeological science has suffered a great loss. The results of his field work were the actual discovery of the Eneolithic on the Lower Don, the discovery, excavation and introduction into scientific circulation of the Konstantinovsky and Razdorsky I sites, as well as a number of funerary monuments. In science, he wrote the discoveries of the Konstantinovskaya culture, the schemes of the evolution of the funeral rite and material culture of the Eneolithic and Bronze Age, a number of original hypotheses and interpretations. For 60 years he has been doing editorial work, comprehensive scientific consulting, summarizing data on excavations and publications, coordinating the efforts of researchers. As a scientist, he enjoyed unquestionable authority among fellow scientists, students and graduates.
