V.P. Nevskaya: the Individual and Personage (to the 100th Anniversary)

Abstract. The report reveals the main stages in the scientific and life path of the outstanding historian Valentina Pavlovna Nevskaya, her contribution to historical science, her role in the development of the North Caucasus history. Special attention is paid to her editorial work, in particular, to her participation in the publication of the landmark work “History of the peoples of the North Caucasus from ancient times to the present day”. The content of her pedagogical activity is disclosed separately, and reference is made to her students, who are now the pride of Russian science. The article covers the little studied direction of her activity — it is about the establishment of a chair at the Stavropol Pedagogical Institute, when the leadership qualities of a scientist and at the same time her humanity nature became apparent. Some episodes of V.P. Nevskaya’s biography are given, which to a great extent determined the psychology of a personality, as well as difficult turns of her creative destiny.
