Abstract. The report contains information about the International academic conference “Documentary heritage of the Russian revolution”, which was held in Moscow from 25 to 27 April 2017, the initiators of the conference were the State Central Museum of contemporary history of Russia, State public historical library of Russia and the Russian state archive of socio-political history. The conference was held with the support of the Russian historical society, the Fund “History of the Fatherland”, the branch of Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Russian Federation, Russian state social University, society of descendants of the First World War participants. Plenary session of the conference was held in the auditorium of the Executive Committee of the Third international (Comintern). In the plenary session M.D. Afanas’ev, M.E. Shvydkoi, A.K. Sorokin, V.P. Buldakov and others have participated. The conference provided an opportunity for scientists from different countries to meet and discuss current issues in the study of the Russian revolution. The main idea of the conference was to form a platform for mutual meetings and views exchange between users of archival and Museum information (professional historical community) and the main keepers of historical memory (employees of archives, museums and libraries). The conference provided a range of round tables on the topics reflecting different aspects of the state-of-art in the source base of the Russian revolution study. According to the results of the conference participants came to the conclusion that in the period of revising concepts important problems of the Russian history after the Revolution of 1917 are considered as crucial historical sources, their analysis, characteristics and locations.
