To the Teacher’s Anniversary: 70 years to Professor Victor Pavlovich Kopylov

Abstract. The article is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the famous Don scientist, archaeologist, professor Victor Pavlovich Kopylov. V.P. Kopylov is one of the leading experts in the field of Scythian-ancient archeology of the Northern Black Sea Region, for many years he was a lecturer at the historical faculty of the Rostov State Pedagogical University and Southern Federal University. Under his leadership, a whole series of monuments of the Scytho-Ancient period of the North-Eastern Azov Sea was identified and introduced into science. It was fundamental importance in the framework of solving the problem of relationship between ancient and barbaric cultures in the South Russia. The most important part of the scientific work of V.P. Kopylov is the study of the nodal monument of the Scythian-Antique time in Eastern Europe – the Elizaveta fortress on Don. V.P. Kopylov is the author of more than 150 scientific articles and several monographs. The Scientific and Methodological Center of Archeology, created by him, for many years represented the Don archaeological science at the highest international scientific level. Viktor Pavlovich is a vivid representative of the academic school of archeology. Respected by colleagues and employees, the beloved teacher of students, who brought up more than a generation of students, he continues to actively pursue his favorite business and do for the benefit of Russian science.
